Brendan.Hyde1@bbi.catholic.edu.auBrendan has had a long and successful career in academic leadership and management in Theology and Religious Education in the secondary and tertiary education sectors. He was Senior Lecturer in Religious Education at Australian Catholic University and Head of Catholic Identity and Action at St. Aloysius College. Brendan is also an Honorary Senior Research Fellow of Federation University Australia and a Fellow of the Centre for the Theology of Childhood (Denver, Colorado, USA).
Associate Professor Hyde is the co-editor of International Journal of Children’s Spirituality, a peer-reviewed academic journal that provides a multicultural and interdisciplinary forum for those involved in research and development of children’s and young people’s spirituality.
Associate Professor Hyde has research interests in hermeneutic phenomenology, children’s spirituality, and in how Godly Play (an approach to religious education in early childhood) nurtures the spirituality of children in both parish and school contexts. He is the author of Children and Spirituality: Searching for Meaning and Connectedness (London: Jessica Kingsley Publishers).
